One of the best parts about living in the Triangle is that everything is within reach. Drive 3 hours, and you’re in the mountains, drive 90 minutes and you’re at the beach. Wanderlust doesn’t stop when cold weather crops up, but nothing kills the hype of a winter trip like the drag of what the weather does to your hair. But it’s actually not that bad as long as you get the right winter hair products. Let’s flex those goods now.
1. Leave-In Conditioner
You must get a leave-in conditioner during the winter. Winters make your hair dry and can leave strands damaged. And if the weather isn’t enough, you’ve gotta blast your hair with the dryer more often. So you just must get one of these. Leave-in conditioner t stays on your hair and gives you a more lasting protection – just what you need on the road. For best results, if possible, allow your hair to naturally dry. Douglas Carroll Salon can advise on the best products to use.
2. Dry Shampoo
TBH, even if your hair is packed with the best leave-in conditioners (reach out – we’ve got recommendations!), longer trips can still wreck it. That’s why you need to stash a dry shampoo in your bag. What makes winter such a drag is that it makes your ‘do dull. But if you wash your hair too often, you lose the good oils and get the over-wash dull looks again. Not to mention that when you’re on the road, you can’t just jump into a shower whenever you please. That’s where the dry shampoo steps in. Dry shampoos remove hydrophobic chemicals through absorption, so that means you’ll freshen up without dehydration, and in a flash.
3. Hairspray
We’ll wrap up the winter hair accessories for today with hairspray. Why? When you’re traveling, you visit places, right? You enter places – hotels, restaurants… When you enter, you take your winter hat off and unleash the static. To get those basic fly-aways under control and keep the static down, keep a small hairspray bottle next to that dry shampoo for another quick fix. We recommend you spray a small fix after you’re done hairstyling to keep things in place from the get-go. Definitely avoid running a brush through sprayed hair though, even if the winter breeze leaves it a bit wild.
If you need help getting your hair ready for that trip this winter, and you’re in the Raleigh area, give Douglas Carroll Salon a shout. We’ve got all the right hair products for winter.
