Meet Douglas David

Owner/Artistic Director

With 31 years as a salon owner, Douglas Carroll David is recognized for his signature cutting techniques, innovative styling and makeover genius. Douglas’s work can be seen in hundreds of consumer and trade magazines. The salons photographic hairstyles have been awarded Top 10 most published salons in America and Salon Today’s Top 200 Salons in North America.

After his service in the Navy, Douglas studied under his father at Schilling Douglas Beauty School. Launching his first salon in 1986, Douglas Carroll Salon is still a multi-award-winning brand, recognized for distinction, commitment and the craft of hairdressing.

Following the opening of his first salon, Douglas was chosen as one of the first eleven National Art Directors for Rusk Hair Care.

Upon accepting his position with Rusk, Douglas trained in Scotland and then continued his career with them as an art director for several years.

Later, Logics Hair Color would invite Douglas to become an educator for their company as well.

And in 1991 Douglas went on to win the TIGI Hairdresser of The Year Award which lead him to a ten year Art Director position with Tigi. Douglas has recently been selected to partner with Wella as one of their Top Artist in the United States. Douglas will be training with and teaching other salons and stylists across America.

Douglas’s passion for hairdressing is evident when you walk into Douglas Carroll Salon.

As a role model for his team, Douglas values the importance of education and offers personalized training with his team weekly.

Douglas was recognized for his leadership upon receiving his exclusive invitation to join Intercoiffure, an invitation that is only presented to salon owners who have been recognized for their excellence in the industry.

Douglas has been married to his adoring wife Trish for twenty-five years. Together they have four sons Jordan, Brandon, Alexander and Tristen. All four sons work with Douglas in the family salon.

Meet Our Team

Art Director

Lindsay was first exposed to DCS when she came to get her hair done for her high school prom.  It wasn’t until she spent a year at UNCW for accounting that Lindsay realized her heart was truly in the fashion industry.  Looking for an outlet for her creative passion, Lindsay left UNCW and applied for Mitchell’s Hairstyling Academy.  Upon her graduation Lindsay left hair school and immediately became a member of the DCS Team, “I’ve never worked anywhere else, I couldn’t imagine it any other way!”

Art Director

Dina has been with Douglas Carroll Salon for 15 years.  She was trained by Douglas and become his colorist for 2 years. Also trained by Toni & Guy, Wella, Goldwell and Keratin Complex and certified in Hair Dreams and Great Length Extensions.  She specializes in foil, color, haircutting, relaxers, extensions and Keratin treatments.  Dina has a passion for people and making them look their best.

Art Director

Determined to take her career into her own hands Michelle sought out and scheduled an interview with Doug, “I made a list of questions to ask instead of him interviewing me, I was the one doing all the talking. “Michelle has been a hairstylist for over 25 years, 20 of which have been spent at DCS. Taking on the responsibility of putting together the salon’s education program, Michelle strives to bring the most updated trends and education to the staff and her clients.

Jordan David

Son of Douglas David, it was only a matter of time before eldest son, Jordan David, followed in his father’s footsteps. Understanding the importance of education Jordan took his training very seriously and flew out to LA to attend the Toni & Guy Institute to become a hair stylist. Jordan’s education didn’t stop after his graduation however, Jordan continues to fly across the country to training events. Passionate about education, Jordan plans to become an educator in the industry.

Upon moving to Raleigh NC, Kay began a search for the top salons in the area. It didn’t take too long before Kay had found DCS. She quickly made herself a hair appointment with Doug himself so she could get a feel for the environment and person she would possibly be working for. Instead of pre-booking her next appointment, Kay opened her book at Douglas Carroll Salon and joined our team.

Master Stylist

By the age of five, Sue was putting foils in her Grandmother’s hair and aspiring to be a hairstylist. After attending Capri Beauty Institute in New Jersey, a little bit of travel and help from former coworkers lead Sue to the doors of Douglas Carroll Salon. The freedom of expression and challenging education brought Sue to DCS. With over twenty years in the industry most of which have been spent with the Douglas Carroll Salon, it’s no surprise that Master Stylist Sue says, “I just love my job!”

Master Stylist

Luis has 45 years experience. He joined Douglas Carroll Salon 9 years from a prestigious salon in New York. He trained with Toni & Guy, Trevor Sorbie (London), Wella and Goldwell Studios. Luis specializes in color, haircutting, Keratin Treatments, special occasion styling and updos for weddings.

Master Stylist

Everette has been part of Douglas Carroll Salon since 1985 but not always a hair stylist. Everette was a behind the scenes support for the salon long before he was behind a chair of his own. Everette and Doug have been friends for many years and it was with Doug’s encouragement that Everette pursued a career in hairdressing. “I get the opportunity to help others feel good about themselves everyday, my clients are undoubtedly what I love most about my job.”

Brandon David

Brandon has been in the salon industry most of his life and has always had a desire to have a hand in the business. He has worked for multiple salons in Wilmington, NC while attending UNC before making his way to Los Angeles for cosmetology school. He landed a job at the prestigious Raminez Tran Salon in Beverly Hills where he trained for two years. Brandon has come home to create with his family while continuing to be inspired by his world class father. He says, “This is what we eat, sleep, and breathe!”

A local to Raleigh, Jessica attended the International Institute of Hair Design in Raleigh. In high school Jessica was always giving her friends haircuts in her bathroom so the transition to hair school was natural for her. “I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!” After having her first child, Jessica came to DCS in search of a creative and positive environment. “I absolutely love the creativity that surrounds me every day. The stylist’s I work with are the most talented group of people to work with”.

Andrea has been working in the salon industry since she was sixteen years old. Starting as part of the Douglas Carroll Salon front desk, it wasn’t until Andrea was twenty-one that she started cosmetology education at Mitchells Academy. “I love the creativeness of hairstyling. I always knew I wanted to pursue a career that allowed me to work with people and empower women, hair styling allows me that outlet everyday.”

Senior Stylist

Since she was a little girl Katie has been passionate about helping others. “I’ve always wanted to help people feel better about themselves. Watching the glow that comes back into people’s eyes after a haircut is a priceless gift. “In search of a high end, family based salon, Katie didn’t interview or look into any other salons other than DCS when she graduated. “I could feel when I walked through the doors that Douglas Carroll Salon was the place for me.”

Senior Stylist

Luanna has been in the hair industry since 1985. She has worked in Ohio and New York. She is passionate about hair. She has taken numerous classes and continues to keep up with the trends. Classes include Vidal Sassoon, Paul Mitchell, Martin Parsons and Toni and guy. She pays attention to detail and truly cares for all her clients. She says, “I feel blessed to do what I love and I know your hair is your most important accessory, besides a smile!”

Senior Stylist

Teicher pronounced Tie-sure has been in the Cosmetology Industry for 24 years and counting. Teicher’s love for hair has given her a wide range of artistry & craftsmanship in all different hair textures. She says, “I believe that there is no such thing as ethnic hair but different textures, this belief has allowed me to be proficient in all styles, cuts, colors and processes.”

Tristen David

Tristen’s passion for hair began during high school. He he had been exposed to the salon industry at a very young age watching his father, Douglas David. He says, “I love what I do for a living. My favorite thing about my job is cutting hair and making people feel their best & I wouldn’t change that for the world.”

Rachel’s excitement for hair styling began as a model for Douglas Carroll Salon’s photo shoot. Later realizing she wanted to pursue a hairdressing career, choosing DCS as her salon endeavor and opportunity was an easy choice! She says, “Now I’m in my second year training with Douglas, I’m absolutely loving it!”

Junior Stylist

Natalie has been a part of Douglas Carroll Salon since May of 2014 and has been in love ever since! (We love her to! :)) Her love of DCS comes from the amazing talent of the stylist’s that surrounds her everyday! She says, ” We are always going through continuing education classes to constantly improve our craft! I love the way a new look can transform the way someone feels about them self! Being able to help people see their inner beauty and enhance their outer beauty is my favorite part of my job!”

Junior Stylist
Taylor has had a love for the industry for as long as she can remember. Eager to further her education, she moved to New York just weeks after graduating cosmetology school. She worked for Serge Normant at John Freida in Chelsea, Manhattan where she trained under several celebrity artists and was exposed to a wide range of techniques. After 3 years, she has decided to bring her talents back home to Raleigh. She says “Douglas Carroll inspires me all over again. I am so fortunate to be a part of a passionate team that never stops learning, views hair as an art like I do, all while enjoying everything I love about hometown again.”

As a professional licensed aesthetician, Valerie provides skincare by working closely with her clients to create a regimen to maintain a beautiful complexion all year long. She specializes in facial treatments and detecting skin problems.


Jay spent the most of his life in Seoul, South Korea, fascinated by American music and fashion industry, and came to the States with his wife. But he didn’t start a first job as a hair stylist. Was a vocalist and jazz bassist during school days and worked as a barista throughout the Army. After realizing that he really wanted to become a hair stylist, the time was not a problem for him. Has finished the class from make-up Atelier Paris International Institute in Korea and won the grand prize on hair-cut in KIBE F/W 16′. Now Jay has been working with Douglas David and fully adapting to Douglas Carroll Salon!


Jillian has been doing her friends hair, makeup and photography since she was in early middle school. After graduating high school, she attended East Carolina majoring in Visual arts until realizing that wasn’t the kind of art she wanted to peruse. A little over a year later, she graduated from Mitchells Hairstyling Academy and immediately came to Douglas Carroll to take the next step in her education and career as a professional. She doesn’t limit her creative ability and believes in helping people “look good, feel good, do good.”


Raised in the Raleigh area, Van was inspired by Jordan David to pursue a career in the salon. Currently an apprentice at Douglas Carroll while attending school at Paul Mitchell, Van invests many hours every week learning and honing his craft. Van recognizes that no other industry offers the chance to build friendships like cutting, styling, and coloring someone’s hair. Getting to know clients like family while providing professional service is a driving motivation for him. “Working at DCS never feels like work to me. I am privileged to learn from top level stylists while collaborating on an exceptional team.”

Director of Affairs

Mary has been interested in the salon industry since before she can remember and has never been more inspired than by the amazing team she works with today! She has always had a passion for the salon industry and feels honored to be working for such an incredible company. I am astounded by the talent of the Douglas Carroll Salon staff!

Front Desk

Jenna knew early on she was destined for the salon world and began the Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill one week after graduating high school. She worked as a hairstylist for four years locally in Raleigh. Soon after, she decided to expand her knowledge, and managed a salon and spa locally in the area. Jenna says she loves having a broad understanding of how a salon operates and is excited to bring her background and administrative skills to Douglas Carroll Salon team!
